When it comes to refrigerator staples we know cheese is at the top of our list! But not everyone knows how to store different types of cheeses, so we are here to help. The best method for storing cheese is exceptionally simple, but you'll want to keep a few tips in mind, depending on what type of cheese you're storing.
The best place to store all types of cheese is the vegetable crisper in the refrigerator. This is a place where the temperature is cold and stable. Although resealable plastic bags will do the job, it's not the ideal storage solution. Use a fresh piece of plastic wrap or wax paper to rewrap cheese after each use. This way you reduce moisture and growth on the cheese. Now the length of time you can keep cheese differs by variety; in general, the harder the cheese, the longer it will last.
Hard, aged cheeses: First wrap in wax or parchment paper, then add a layer of clean beeswax wrap or plastic wrap. This will keep it the freshest and taste the best.
Wrap in beeswax or plastic wrap, as it already has more moisture you can skip the parchment paper and use a wrap.
These cheeses are stored the same as the above: wrap in beeswax wrap plastic wrap.
Place in a resealable plastic container. The main reason for this is to keep the cheese in a neutral environment, although the container also helps keep the smell to itself!
Place in a resealable plastic container on its own or make a saltwater brine to leave it in.
